The work has already started

When nobody owns the whole journey, the person pays.

Caretrap Foundation (Stichting Zorgfuik) investigates why people become trapped between healthcare providers, municipalities, insurers and agencies. We look for recurring patterns rather than individual mistakes, publish what we find including what we cannot yet prove, and develop ways to restore ownership of the complete pathway.

This is a summary in English.

The foundation is Dutch and its research concerns Dutch healthcare, Dutch legislation and Dutch data. The full site, including publications, news and video, is in Dutch at stichtingzorgfuik.nl. These pages exist so an English-speaking reader can understand what we do and get in touch.

Where systems fail

Not one mistake. Three recurring gaps.

A care trap rarely results from ill will. It develops where handover, ownership and mandate fail to connect.

Handover

Information is transferred but responsibility is not. Each organisation completes its own task while nobody carries the whole.

Ownership

Everyone is waiting for someone else. The pathway stalls without any single decision to stop it.

Mandate

Someone may be willing to coordinate, but has no authority to remove the blockage. Coordination without mandate becomes another desk.

What exists today

Four platforms, one research line.

The public-facing work is running. The research is at its beginning, and we say so.

Platforms4Public information and signal gathering, in Dutch
Videos49Explanation and recognition, Dutch spoken
Measured cases0The method has to prove itself first

Working on something similar?

We are interested in comparable research, in other countries as well. Cross-organisational stagnation is not a uniquely Dutch problem.
